Kuya: "I declare the possibility of being abundant and powerful. Abundance, meaning to never have a shortage in anything. And power, to have control over the things I do."

Apuput: "I want to be a Philanthropist. I want to make a difference in this world. I want someone to remember me, not just those in the family."

Me: "I just want Mama and Papa to be happy, to find their happiness."

Last night, we went to an introduction to The Landmark Forum. This is the forum my Kuya attended during the weekend, and I must admit that for that short span of time changes have been visible, especially during recent events in the family.

The objective of the Landmark forum (according to their brochure) is:

"The Landmark curriculum and programs are specifically designed to bring about positive and permanent shifts in the quality of your life. These shifts are the direct cause for a new and unique kind of freedom and power. The freedom to be absolutely at ease no matter where you are, and who you're with, or what circumstance. The power to be in action effectively in those areas of your life that are important to you."

During the short introduction last night, some of the areas that the Forum emphasized on where (1) Painting your future, and (2) Creating Possibilities for yourself. I wasn't the one who attended the Forum so I probably am not the best person to describe the whole objective of the Forum. But maybe I can just mention a few things I picked up from the intro last night:

1. Most of our actions are constrained by events or experiences in the Past. That's why our Future also becomes limited by the actions we do. We need to take the Past back to the Past so that we can have a blank canvass of the Future and define what we WANT to happen and make our actions consistent with what we want to happen TO the Future, and NOT consistent with what we do or do not want to happen AGAIN.

2. Our actions are sometimes limited with the view we have. Picture a cup on top of a table and you standing in only one part of the room. You only see one view of the cup. And so when you're asked to pick up that cup, you will act based on your view: either you wrap your fingers if you can't see the handle or if you see the handle, you use it. It's best to view situations in different perspectives before you act on it. I believe that our actions are never unconsciously done. There is always a choice.

3. When you commit yourself to something and you push yourself to keep that commitment, you give yourself the feeling of control over things - the power. And so you can define what you want to be…wait no..you can define your BEING.

For me, these things are just common sense. You don't need a forum to tell you that. But sometimes we tend to be stubborn. We're so certain about our lives that we fail to realize that possibilities are all over if you just open up your mind and have a wider view. Hey, I'm not saying that I don't need this forum 'coz I'm "all good" already. Nah, I know that I'll probably be able to pick up a few more things to better improve myself from this Forum as well. I'll be bringing this up with our HR for consideration. Maybe some of us need a smack on the head.

Whatever it is that Kuya got from that Forum, it did him good. I'm very thankful and happy to see that glow in brother's face when he wakes up every morning and to see that he now has a different outlook in his life.

We're all hard eggs to crack. We just need to hit the right spot and on the right surface.
